When pronouncing words with the “tr” combination, you say both the “t” and the “r” clearly in quick succession, without a pause.

Learning the Consonant Blend TR
The “tr” blend is made up of the consonants “t” and “r”:
“t” sound: /t/ (as in “top”)
“r” sound: /r/ (as in “run”)
When you put them together, you get the blended sound /tr/. Try saying it slowly: /t/-/r/-/tr/. You should be able to hear both the /t/ and /r/ sounds.

- Isolate the sounds: Practice saying the /t/ and /r/ sounds separately, then try to blend them smoothly.

- Write the words: Writing “tr” words can help reinforce the spelling and the blended sound.
- Use flashcards: Create flashcards with “tr” words and practice reading them quickly.
- Listen carefully: Listen and Imitate: Listening to videos of native speakers and mimicking their pronunciation will also help with mastering the “tr” sound.
