When pronouncing words with the “pr” combination, you say both the “p” and the “r” clearly in quick succession, without a pause.

Learning the Consonant Blend PR
The “pr” blend combines the sounds of “p” and “r”:
“p” sound: /p/ (as in “pen”)
“r” sound: /r/ (as in “run”)
When you say them together, you get the blended sound /pr/. Try saying it slowly: /p/-/r/-/pr/. You should be able to hear both the /p/ and /r/ sounds.

- Write the words: Writing “pr” words can help reinforce the spelling and the blended sound.
