The /n/ sound is a nasal consonant made by placing the tongue behind the upper teeth and allowing air to flow through the nose. It is a common and important sound in English, often found at the beginning, middle, and end of words.

- The Letter “N”
The most common way to represent the /n/ sound is by using the letter N.
Beginning: nose, nap, name, night, net
Middle: planet, animal, candle, honey
End: sun, pan, man, fin - Double “N” (nn)
Double “N” often occurs in the middle of words.
Examples: banner, dinner, runner, tunnel, cannon - “Kn” (Silent K)
The /n/ sound can be spelled as “kn” when the K is silent. This is usually found at the beginning of words.
Examples: knife, knee, knot, kneel, knit
