How to use the Worksheet
This educational resource turns handwriting practice into an interactive phonics challenge that strengthens a child’s phonemic awareness (linking sounds to letters) and graphomotor skills (pencil control).

1. The Warm-Up: “The No-Voice Click”
   Before grabbing a pencil, have the student look at the first emoji symbol (🧰).
   Ask them to say the target word out loud: “Kit!“Have them place two fingers flat against their neck/throat while making the /k/ sound (k-k-k).
   Teach them that /k/ is a “quiet” or unvoiced sound. Unlike the vibrating /g/ or /j/ sounds, their neck should stay perfectly still while a brief puff of air “clicks” at the back of their throat!
   

2. Step 1: Trace the Anchor
   Have the student trace the light gray, dashed lowercase letter “k”.
   Guide them with the physical brush-stroke rule: Start way up at the sky line, drop straight down to the floor, lift your pencil to the middle line, kick inward, and slide down to the floor.
   

3. Step 2: Slide and Blend
   After tracing the initial letter, have the student track their finger under the remaining letters to blend the full word out loud (e.g., k-i-t → kit).
   

4. Step 3: Independent Copying
   Challenge the child to look over at the blank blue baseline on the right side of the row.Instruct them to write the word all by themselves from memory, making sure the tall spine of the lowercase k reaches up high while the small “kick” stays neatly under the middle line.
