How to play Sawayama Solitaire?

The tableau consists of 7 columns. Cards in the tableau are stacked by descending ranks of alternating colors (red/black). [e.g. 4♥️–3♣️–2♥️ can be placed on the 5♠️]

NOTE: To move cards, click to select a card or stack, then click the destination. “Drag and drop” is not required.

Any card or stack may be moved into an empty tableau column.

Click on the stock to deal three cards to the waste. Only the frontmost card of the waste can be moved.

When the stock runs out, it leaves behind a free cell that may be used to store a single card.

To win the game, stack all the cards to the foundations in ascending order by suit.

Shortcut note: Double-clicking on a card will try to move it to the foundations if possible, or the free cell otherwise

New Game:
Starts a new game with a new shuffled deck.

Reset:
Rewinds you back to the beginning of the current game.

Undo:
Undo the last move.

Settings:
Ranks: Numbers (1-13) or Traditional (Ace, 2 - 10, Jack, Queen, King)
Suits: Animals, Shapes or Traditional
Color Scheme: Four Colors, Four Colors (Subtle) or Two Colors

Hints

• If there are cards left in the stock and the waste is empty, you should immediately draw cards into the waste, as it gives additional information with no downside. This includes the very beginning of a game.
• Because empty tableau columns can be filled with any stack, they are very powerful. If you can create one, it’s usually a good idea to do so, and try not to “waste” it just to get a couple cards off the stock or wastepile. Think, however, of sequences of moves that “refund” your columns, while also organizing your tableau and getting useful cards off the stock/waste.
• Remember that you get a free cell after the stock runs out, which also increases your maneuvering options. Many games that seem lost can be salvaged by wise use of the free cell.
• Note that the autoplay only moves cards it’s sure that you do not need. It may be possible to play more cards to the foundations, and you may need to do so to clear space or get to another card you need.
• Deals tend to vary significantly in difficulty, so if you have trouble with one game, maybe try starting a new game.
