Learning the Blend “bl”
The “bl” blend is a combination of the consonants b and l that work together to create a smooth sound, as in blue or black. It appears at the beginning of words and is commonly taught as part of phonics lessons for young learners.
How to Pronounce “bl”
/b/: Start by saying the b sound by pressing your lips together and releasing a voiced puff of air.
/l/: Follow it with the l sound by lifting your tongue to the roof of your mouth just behind your teeth.
Blend: Combine the two sounds quickly to say “bl.”
