How to use the Worksheet
This printable worksheet functions as an interactive educational game designed to build fine motor skills and phonemic awareness. Follow these simple steps to guide your young learners through the activity:

The Warm-Up: “Listen for the Whisper”
Before picking up a pencil, have the student look at the emoji visual cue on the left. Introduce the letter sound as a quiet, breathy sound—like blowing out a candle.Ask the student to look at the first picture (👒) and say “Hat."
Ask them: “Can you feel the little puff of air on your palm when you say the /h/ sound?" -
Step 1: Trace the Target Sound
Instruct the student to trace the gray, dotted letter “h” on the page.
Emphasize the physical stroke movement: starting at the top line, sliding straight down, bouncing back up, and making a hump. -
Step 2: Read the Completed Word
Once the initial letter is filled in, have the child slide their finger under the letters to blend the word together out loud (e.g., h-a-t → hat). -
Step 3: The Challenge Line
Now it’s time for independent practice! Have the student try to copy the entire word onto the blank solid line to the right.
Encourage them to keep their letters sitting flat right on top of the blue line.
