This Standard Form to Slope-Intercept Form Game is a great way to put your skills to the test in a fun environment. By practicing, you’ll start to work out the answers efficiently.
Standard to Slope-Intercept Form Game
To convert from standard form Ax+By=C to slope-intercept form y=mx+b, first isolate the y-term by moving the x-term to the other side of the equation. Then, divide every term by the coefficient of y to solve for y, resulting in the new equation with the slope m and y-intercept b. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.

How to convert from Standard to Slope-Intercept form
The goal is to rearrange the Standard Form equation Ax + By = C into the Slope-Intercept Form y = mx + b by isolating the y variable.
Step-by-Step Guide
Here are the three primary steps to convert any linear equation from Standard Form Ax + By = C to Slope-Intercept Form y = mx + b.
Step 1: Subtract the x-Term (Ax) from Both Sides
The first objective is to isolate the term containing y (By). You do this by moving the x-term to the right side of the equation.
Action: Subtract the entire Ax term from both sides of the equation.
Result: The y-term is now isolated on the left. The right side contains the $x$-term and the constant term, but they are generally not combined.
Step 2: Divide Every Term by the Coefficient of y (B)
The final goal is to get a single y on the left side. To do this, you must divide the entire equation by the number directly attached to y (the coefficient B).
Action: Divide the y term, the x term, and the constant term C by B.
Step 3: Simplify to y = mx + b
Perform the division and simplification for both terms on the right side. This reveals the slope (m) and the y-intercept b.
Action: Perform the division and simplify any resulting fractions or integers.
Result: The equation is now in y = mx + b form.
