This Slope-Intercept Form to Standard Form Game is a great way to put your skills to the test in a fun environment. By practicing, you’ll start to work out the answers efficiently.
Slope-Intercept to Standard Form Game
To convert from slope-intercept form y=mx+b to standard form Ax+By=C, move the x term to the left side of the equation, and then multiply the entire equation by the least common denominator to eliminate any fractions. Finally, if the coefficient of the x term A is negative, multiply every term by -1 to make A positive. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.

How to convert from Slope-Intercept to Standard form
The goal is to rearrange the Slope-Intercept Form y = mx + b into the Standard Form equation Ax + By = C.
Step 1: Move the xterm
Start with the slope-intercept equation: y=mx+b.
Subtract the mx term from both sides to move it to the left, resulting in -mx+y=b.
Rewrite the equation with the x term first: -mx+y=b.
Step 2: Eliminate fractions
If the equation contains fractions, find the least common denominator (LCD) of all the fractions.
Multiply every term in the equation by the LCD to clear the fractions.
Step 3: Ensure A is positive
Rewrite the equation in the Ax+By=C format. At this point, you will have an equation like -mx+y=b. If the coefficient of x (which is now A) is negative, multiply every term in the equation by -1. This will change the sign of all the terms, making the x coefficient positive, as required for standard form.
The video gives a clear, step-by-step approach to converting from slope-intercept form to standard form.
