Solve Quadratic Equations Game
Solving a quadratic equation means finding the value(s) of the variable that make the equation true. A quadratic equation is an equation that can be written in the standard form: ax2 + bx + c = 0, where a, b, and c are coefficients. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.

Thus game will require you to solve a quadratic equation where the coefficient of x2 is 1 and the equation can be factored easily using mental math. The game has two steps. In the first step, rewrite the quadratic equation in the factored form as two binomials. In the second step, give the solutions for x. If you get an answer wrong, the game will show you the correct solution.

How to Solve Quadratic Equations
Solve Quadratic Equations
Factoring Simple Trinomials (a=1)
This method is used for quadratics in the form x2+bx+c=0. You need to find two numbers that:

  1. Multiply to the constant term (c).
  2. Add to the middle coefficient (b).

Example: Solve for x in x2+7x+12=0
Find the two numbers: Look for two numbers that multiply to 12 and add to 7. The numbers are 3 and 4.
    3×4=12
    3+4=7
Write the factored form: Use the two numbers you found to write the two binomials.
    (x+3)(x+4)=0
Apply the Zero Product Property: Set each binomial equal to zero and solve.
    x+3=0⟹x=−3
    x+4=0⟹x=−4
The solutions are x=−3 and x=−4.

The video gives a clear, step-by-step approach to solving quadratic equations.
