Expanded Form to Normal Form
To write a number from expanded form to normal (standard) form, you simply add all the values together or write the non-zero digits in their correct place values, adding zeros for any missing place values. For example, in 300 + 20 + 6, you add these values to get 326.

How to Write a Number from Expanded Form to Normal Form

  1. Add the values together:
The easiest way is to simply perform the addition of all the numbers in the expanded form.
    Example: 300 + 20 + 6 = 326.
  2. Identify place values (alternative method):
You can also find the largest value (the digit furthest to the left) and place it in its correct place value.
Example: In 300 + 20 + 6, the largest value is 300. So, write down the ‘3’ in the hundreds place. Then, move to the next largest value, 20, and write ‘2’ in the tens place. Finally, write ‘6’ in the ones place.
  3. Use zeros as placeholders:
If a place value is skipped in the expanded form, you must put a zero in that spot in the normal form to keep the other digits in their correct places.
    Example: For 20,000 + 300 + 4, the thousands place is missing. So you would write: 20,000 (twenty thousands) + 300 (three hundreds) + 4 (four ones) = 20,304.
