Integrating trigonometric functions requires knowing the basic formulas and understanding a few key techniques for handling different powers of the functions, especially when they are multiplied together.
Trig Integration Game
Integrating trigonometric functions involves two main areas: memorizing the basic anti-derivatives and applying specific techniques (often involving trigonometric identities) for integrals involving powers of these functions. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.
This game focuses on finding the indefinite integrals (antiderivatives) of trigonometric functions. It includes tricky questions involving identities and \(u\)-substitution constants. Select one of the four possible answers. If you are right, the answer will be highlighted in green. If you are wrong, the wrong answer will be highlighted in red and correct answer will be highlighted in green to help you master this skill.
How to Play the Trig Integration Game
The game will show you an integral. Your task is to evaluate the integral and select the correct answer.
Here’s how to play:
Basic Trigonometric Integrals
\(\int \cos x dx = \sin x + C\)
\(\sin x dx = -\cos x + C\)
\(\sec^2 x dx = \tan x + C\)
\(\csc^2 x dx = -\cot x + C\)
\(\sec x \tan x = \sec x + C\)
\(\csc x \cot x = -\csc x + C\)
\(\sec x = \ln|\sec x + \tan x|\)
\(\csc x = \ln|\csc x - \cot x|\)
This video gives a clear, step-by-step approach to learn how to find Trigonometric Integrals.
