This Convert between 12 & 24 hours Game is a great way to put your skills to the test in a fun environment. By practicing, you’ll start to learn how to convert between the 12-hour and 24-hour time format.
Convert between 12 & 24 hours Game
To convert from 12-hour to 24-hour (also called military time) time, subtract 12 from the hour for any PM time (except 12:00 PM), keep the AM hour the same (except for 12:00 AM), change 12:00 AM to 00:00, and keep 12:00 PM as 12:00. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.
In this game, you will be given two times in 12 hour format and you need to find the elapsed time between the two times in hours and minutes. If you give a wrong answer, the game will give you the correct solution. Converting from 12-hour time to 24-hour time can be used when we want to calculate elapsed time.

How to Play the Convert between 12 & 24 hours Game
The game will show you either a 12-hour time or a 24-hour time. Your task is to convert the time.

12-hour to 24-hour Conversion
To convert from a 12-hour to a 24-hour format: for AM times, keep the hour the same (add a leading zero for single digits) and for PM times, add 12 to the hour. The only exceptions are 12 AM, which becomes 00, and 12 PM, which remains 12.
Conversion Rules
For AM times (excluding 12 AM):
The hour stays the same.
Add a leading zero to make the hour a two-digit number.
Example: 9:00 AM becomes 09:00.
Example: 1:30 AM becomes 01:30.
For PM times (excluding 12 PM):
Add 12 to the hour.
Example: 3:17 PM becomes 3 + 12 = 15:17.
Example: 11:59 PM becomes 11 + 12 = 23:59.
For 12 AM (Midnight):
12:00 AM becomes 00:00.
12:15 AM becomes 00:15.
For 12 PM (Noon):
The hour stays the same.
Example: 12:00 PM becomes 12:00.
Example: 12:30 PM becomes 12:30.
24-hour to 24-hour Conversion
To convert from a 24-hour to a 12-hour format, if the hour is 00:00 to 11:59, it’s an AM time, keep the hour (or make it 12 for midnight) and add “AM”. For hours 12:00 to 23:59, subtract 12 from the hour and add “PM”.
