Circumference & Area Game
The Circumference of a circle is the distance around it and its Area is the space it covers. The key to finding the area of a circle when given the circumference and vice versa is the Radius (r). Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.

In this game, you may select “Find Area from Circumference” or “Find Circumference from Area” or “Mixed Challenge”. Approximate π to 3.14 and round answers to two decimal places. If you give a wrong answer, the game will provide the correct answer.

How to Find the Area when given the Circumference (C)
If you know the circumference, the first step is to use it to find the radius (r).

  1. Find the Radius (r)
    Isolate r from the Circumference formula.
    C = 2πr
    \(r = \frac{C}{2\pi}\)
  2. Calculate the Area (A)
    Plug the calculated radius into the Area formula.
    A = πr2

How to Find the Circumference when given the Area (A) If you know the area, the first step is to use it to find the radius (r).

  1. Find the Radius (r)
    Isolate r from the Circumference formula.
    A = πr2 \(r = \sqrt{\frac{A}{\pi}}\)
  2. Calculate the Circumference (C)
    Plug the calculated radius into the Circumference formula.
    C = 2πr
