This interactive game helps early readers differentiate between the short “a” sound (as in cat) and the long “a” sound (as in cake).
Vowel Sound Quest: Short A vs Long A
How to Play the Game
Listen to the Word:
A word appears in the center of the card area (for example: cat or rain). The built-in voice helper reads the word aloud and asks: “Does this word have a short a or a long a sound?"
Pick Your Answer:
Click or tap one of the two large buttons at the bottom:
Short a (Orange button - like “cat”)
Long a (Blue button - like “cake”)
Instant Feedback:
Correct Pick: The button flashes green, the game states “Good job!”, and a fresh new word automatically generates.
Incorrect Pick: The button shakes and flashes red, the game says “Let’s try another one”, and it smoothly loads a new word to keep the practice fluid.
Track Your Score:
Keep an eye on the scoreboard to watch your progress grow in real-time (Score: [Correct] / [Total Questions]).
Repeat Audio:
Want to hear the word or question again? Simply tap the friendly speaker button (🔊) below the target word at any time.
