This Surface Area of Rectangular Prism Game is a great way to put your skills to the test in a fun environment. By practicing, you’ll start to work out the answers efficiently.
Surface Area of Rectangular Prism Game
The surface area (SA) of a rectangular prism is found by calculating the total area of all six faces (sides) and adding them together.
Since a rectangular prism has three pairs of identical faces we get the formula: SA = 2(lw + wh + hl).
Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.
In this game, you may select “Find Surface Area” or “Find Missing Side” or “Mixed Questions”. If you give a wrong answer, the game will provide the correct answer.
SA = 2(lw + wh + hl)

How to Play the Surface Area of Rectangular Prism Game
In the game, you need to find the surface area of a rectangular prism or find a missing side when given the surface area.
Here’s how to play:
Find the Surface Area
A rectangular prism has three dimensions: Length (L), Width (W), and Height (H).
The total surface area (SA) is the sum of the areas of:
The top and bottom faces (L × W)
The front and back faces (L × H)
The left and right side faces (W × H)
The formula is:
SA = 2(LW) + 2(LH) + 2(WH)
Where:
SA is the Total Surface Area.
L is the Length.
W is the Width.
H is the Height.
Find Missing Side
To find a missing side (L), rearrange the formula to isolate L.
\(L = \frac{SA - 2(HW)}{2(H + W)}\)
The video gives a clear, step-by-step approach to find the surface area of a rectangular prism.
