Surface Area of Cone Game
The Total Surface Area (SA) of a cone requires combining two distinct area calculations: the area of its circular base and the area of its curved side (the lateral area).
SA = πr2 + πrl
Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.

In this game, you may select “Find Surface Area”, “Find Lateral Area”, “Find Slant Height”, or “Mixed Questions”. If you give a wrong answer, the game will provide the correct answer.

Use 3.14 for π. Round to 2 decimal places.

How to Play the Surface Area of Cone Game
In the game, you need to find the surface area of a cone, find lateral area, or find a missing side when given the surface area.
Here’s how to play:

  1. Choose your challenge: Select “Find Surface Area”, “Find Lateral Area”, “Find Slant Height”, or “Mixed Questions”.
  2. Find Surface Area: Calculate surface area given the radius and the slant height.
  3. Find Lateral Area: Calculate lateral area given the radius and the slant height.
  4. Find Slant Height: Calculate a slant height given the vertical height and the radius.
  5. Enter Your Answer: Enter in the answer.
  6. Check Your Work: Click the “Check” button (or press the Enter key). The game will tell you if you’re correct. If you are wrong, you will be shown the correct answer.
  7. Get a New Problem: Click the “Next” button for a new problem.
    Your score is tracked at the top, showing how many you’ve gotten right out of the total you’ve tried.
  8. Back to Menu Click “Menu” to restart the game.

The Total Surface Area Formula
The total surface area (SA) is the sum of these two components:
SA = Area of Base + Lateral Area
1. Area of the Base (B)
Since the base is a circle:
Area of Base = πr2
2. Lateral Area (LA)
This is the area of the curved part of the cone. It uses the radius (r) and the slant height (l).
Lateral Area = πrl
The Complete Formula
Adding the two components gives the total surface area:
SA = πr2 + πrl
Where:
SA is the Total Surface Area.
r is the radius of the base.
l is the slant height (the distance along the edge of the cone).

The video gives a clear, step-by-step approach to find the surface area of a cone.
