How to Play Silent B Phonics Game
In the English language, some letters love to hide in plain sight. The letter B frequently drops completely out of spoken sentences while remaining locked inside the spelling framework. This game trains your ears to spot the geometric rules of Silent B environments and teaches you to bypass tricky spelling traps!

The Game Loop:

1. A random word will drop into the central testing chamber at the start of each round. The app will automatically say the word aloud.

3. Analyze the sound pattern and make your choice:
   Silent “B”: Press this if the letter B is totally quiet (like Tomb or Subtle).
   Sounded “B”: Press this if you hear a clear, audible /b/ vocal pop (like Timber or Sublet). Watch out—impostor words are deliberately mixed in to try to trick your eyes!

Rules for Silent B

1. The “-MB” Rule (End of a Word)
   This is the most common silent B pattern. When the letters M and B hang out together at the very end of a root word, the B completely vanishes from speech.
   Examples: Climb, Lamb, Thumb, Crumb, Numb, Comb, Tomb, Womb, Dumb, Limb
   The Mouth Test: Say the word Thumb. To make the “M” sound, your lips close tightly together. To make a regular “B” sound, you have to pop your lips open with a puff of air (like in boy). Notice that when you say Thumb, your lips never pop open. They stay closed, finishing on a pure “M” sound.
   

The Suffix Exception (It Stays Silent!)
If you add a suffix (like -ing, -er, or -ed) to the end of one of these root words, the B stays silent.
Climb → Climbing (Pronounced clime-ing, NOT climb-bing)
Bomb → Bomber (Pronounced bom-er, NOT bomb-ber)
Plumb → Plumber (Pronounced plum-er)

2. The “-BT” Rule (Before a “T”)
   When the letter B sits right before a T inside the same root syllable, the B dissolves, and you jump straight from the vowel to the hard “T” sound.
   Examples: Debt, Doubt, Subtle
   The Ear Test: Say the word Debt. It sounds identical to spelling it D-E-T.
   Say Subtle. It sounds exactly like S-U-T-T-L-E. The B is completely invisible to your ears.
   

Watch Out for the “Vocal Impostors”
This is what trips up most language learners. Just because you see an MB or a BT in a word does not automatically mean the B is silent.If those letters belong to two different syllables, or if they are part of a compound word glued together, you must pronounce the B loud and proud!
