How to Play Short U Game
Sound Detective is an interactive vowel mystery game designed to help early readers hear and isolate the short /u/ sound (/ʌ/ as in umbrella or cup).

Step-by-Step Gameplay
Step 1: Listen to the Clue
Click the orange “📢 Tap to Listen” button. The game will automatically read the secret word aloud at a slowed-down speed, stretching out the vowel sound so it’s easy to catch.

Step 2: Track the Sound in Your Mouth
Say the word out loud! Pay attention to your jaw—your mouth should open slightly and your tongue should rest low and relaxed in the center of your mouth (like you are saying “Uh…” while thinking) to let the short /u/ sound drop low and clear.
Did that short /u/ sound happen right at the very START of the word before any other sound?
Did it happen in the MIDDLE of the word, sandwiched between other letter sounds?

Step 3: Solve the Mystery
Click the green START button if the short /u/ sound comes first (e.g., umbrella, up).
