Rounding on the Number Line Quiz/Game
Welcome to Rounding Master. In this game, your goal is to determine which number on the number line is closest to a given value. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.

 

 

How to play the Rounding on the Number Line Game

1. Choose Your Level
   On the main menu, pick your difficulty:
   Nearest Ten: Works with numbers between 11 and 99.
   Nearest Hundred: Works with numbers between 110 and 990.
   Mixed Mode: Swaps between both randomly.
   

2. Check the Question & Mode
   Read the top of the screen carefully.
   The Question: “Is [Number] closer to…"
   The Badge: Look at the purple badge. It will tell you if you are currently rounding to the Nearest 10 or Nearest 100.
   

3. Use the Number Line
   At the bottom, there is a visual number line.
   The Blue side represents the lower landmark.
   The Pink side represents the higher landmark.
   The Dark Grey mark in the center is the Midpoint (the halfway mark).
   

4. Make Your Choice
   Click the big Blue or Pink button.
   Correct: You’ll hear a happy chime, and your 🔥 Streak will increase.
   Incorrect: Your streak resets to 0, and the game shows you the right answer so you can learn for the next round.
   

Strategies
The “Midpoint” Rule
The midpoint is your decision-maker.
For Tens: The midpoint always ends in 5 (like 45, 65, or 85).
For Hundreds: The midpoint always ends in 50 (like 150, 450, or 850).
Rule of Thumb: If the number is at or past the midpoint, always “round up” to the Pink button.

Finding the Distance
If you aren’t sure, look at the digits:
Nearest Ten: Look at the last digit. If it’s 1, 2, 3, or 4, it’s closer to the lower ten.
Nearest Hundred: Look at the last two digits. Is 72 more than 50? Then it’s closer to the higher hundred.
