Welcome to Rounding Midpoint Worksheet/Game. This game focuses on the Midpoint Strategy. You learn to visualize where a number sits between two “landmarks” (like 20 and 30, or 400 and 500). Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.

 

 

How to play the Rounding Game

1. Choose Your Mission
   From the Main Menu, select your difficulty:
   Nearest Ten: Focuses on small numbers and finding the “5."
   Nearest Hundred: Scales up to larger numbers and finding the “50."
   Mix of Both: Swaps between the two for a greater challenge.
   

2. The Four-Step Logic Flow
   Once a round begins, you cannot skip straight to the answer. You must build the mathematical “frame” for the number:
   Step 1: The Lower Landmark
   Identify the multiple of 10 (or 100) that comes before your target number.
   Step 2: The Upper Landmark
   Identify the multiple of 10 (or 100) that comes after your target number.
   Step 3: The Midpoint (The Tipping Point)
   Find the exact middle between your two landmarks.
   Example: If your landmarks are 40 and 50, your midpoint is 45.
   Example: If your landmarks are 700 and 800, your midpoint is 750.
   Step 4: The Final Round
   Look at the Logic Ledger (the three boxes in the middle). Compare your Target Number to the Midpoint:
   If Target is ≥ Midpoint → Round UP to the Upper Landmark.
   If Target is < Midpoint → Round DOWN to the Lower Landmark.
   

3. The Logic Ledger & Audio
   As you make correct choices, the values are recorded in the Logic Ledger. This acts as a “cheat sheet” for the final step so you don’t have to keep all the numbers in your head.
   Correct Selection: A bright chime plays, and the step indicator at the top turns green.
   Incorrect Selection: A “buzz” plays, and the button flashes red. You must find the correct landmark before you can move to the next step.
