How to use the power rule of exponents?

There are two sets of power rule of exponents worksheets.

  • Power Rule of Exponents
  • Power Rule of Exponents (Coefficients > 1)

The power rule of exponents, also known as the “exponent of an exponent” rule or “raising a power to a power” rule, is a fundamental rule in algebra that describes how to handle an exponent raised to another exponent. The power rule states:

(am)n = amn

when you raise an exponential expression (am) to another exponent (n), you can simplify the result by multiplying the exponents.

For example:
(23)4 = 212

The power rule is a crucial concept in algebra and is used to simplify and manipulate expressions involving exponents, especially when you have nested exponents.
