How to find the percentage of whole numbers
The Shortcut Method
The method relies on converting the percentage to a fraction, but the multiplication step is simplified.

Let’s use the example: What is 300% of 52?
Step 1: Convert the Percentage to a Fraction
30% = 300/100
Step 2: Use Simplified Multiplication to multiply the numerator.
The multiplication is 300 × 52. Since both numbers end in zero, you can use a trick:

  1. Ignore the Zeros: Multiply the non-zero digits:
    3 × 52 = 156
  2. Add the zeros to the end of the number.
    15 → 15600
Step 3: Divide by the denominator.
Divide by 100 by moving the decimal 2 places to the left.
    15600 → 156
    So, 300% of 52 = 156.
