Percentage Grid Quiz/Game
Welcome to Percentage Grid Game. Percentages, decimals, and fractions are often taught as separate rules, but they are actually just different ways of describing the same thing: parts of a whole. Through our visual 10x10 grids, you won’t just calculate values—you’ll build them. By shading squares to represent 10%, 0.10, or 10/100, you will develop a “number sense” that makes mental math intuitive and clear. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.

How to play the Percentage Grid Game

  1. Choose Your Option
On the menu screen, select how you want the target number to be displayed:
Fractions: See the target as a part of 100 (e.g., 45/100).
Percentages: See the target as a whole number out of 100 (e.g., 45%).
Decimals: See the target as a decimal value (e.g., 0.45).
Mixed Mode: Any of the above.

  2. Identify the Target
Look at the Target box at the top. This is the amount of the grid you need to fill.

  3. Shade the Grid
There are two ways to fill the squares:
Precision Tap: Click or tap individual squares to shade them one by one. Each click plays a soft “tick” sound.
Power Fill: Use the + Fill 10% button to instantly shade an entire row. This is great for large numbers (like shading 70% quickly).

  4. Verify Your Answer
Once your Shaded count matches the Target, click Check Answer.
Success: You’ll hear a cheerful major chord, and the game will show you the equivalency (how the fraction, decimal, and percent all equal the same thing).
Oops: If you are off, you’ll hear a low “thud,” and the game will tell you exactly how many squares you need to add or remove.

Tips
Visualize Rows: Remember that one full row is always 10%, 0.1, or 10/100.
Clear and Restart: If you get confused, hit Clear Grid to start that specific round over without losing your progress.
Listen Close: The audio feedback is designed to help you know if your clicks are registering and if your logic is sound.
