Make Ten Strategy (3 Numbers) Worksheet/Game
Welcome to Make Ten Strategy (3 Numbers) game. This game is designed to sharpen your mental math skills by teaching you how to simplify addition problems. Instead of adding numbers one by one, you’ll learn to hunt for “friendly numbers” that make 10. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.
How to Play
Hunt for the “10 Pair”
In each round, you will see three numbers. Two of those numbers are “best friends” that add up to exactly 10.
Solve the Equation
Once you’ve found your 10, add the third (leftover) number to it.
Example: If you see 7, 4, and 3, you know that 7 + 3 = 10. Now just add the 4. 10 + 4 = 14.
Pick Your Answer
Click one of the big buttons at the bottom that matches your total.
Correct: You’ll hear a happy “ding” and see exactly how the “Make Ten” strategy worked.
Incorrect: You’ll hear a buzz and see the correct total so you can learn for the next round.
Track Your Accuracy
Look at the Accuracy score in the top right. It shows your total correct answers out of every challenge you’ve attempted. Can you get a perfect score?
Tip
The “Make Ten” strategy is like a math shortcut. It is much easier to calculate 10 + 6 than it is to calculate 8 + 6 + 2. Use your eyes to find the 10 first, and the rest will be easy.
