How to Play The Game
Objective: Translate raw conic properties into a structurally flawless, standard form hyperbola equation matrix matching = 1.

Step 1: Check the Axis Alignment:
Read the Transverse Axis Direction in the specifications vector. This determines which variable goes first. If it is Horizontal, x must lead. If it is Vertical, y must lead.

Step 2: Enter the Center Coordinates:
Place the corresponding value next to your leading variables in the numerators. Keep in mind that the input handles the sign subtraction natively (e.g., if the center is (-5, 3) and x leads, your first input is -5, representing (x - (-5))2).

Step 3: Solve for the Denominators:
Square the given vertex distance (a) to find your leading denominator (a2).
Use the focal formula relationship to calculate your second denominator (b2).

Step 4: Compile and Load:
Click Compile Equation Structures (or hit Enter) to test your alignment. If correct, you will earn 100 score units. Click Load Next Spec Sheet to advance.

The Underlying Mathematics
The mechanics of this builder game require players to reverse-engineer standard equations from geometry coordinates using core formulas.

The Pythagorean Conic Identity
The program randomly selects its parameters from predefined integer Pythagorean triples. This ensures that the distance to the vertices (a) and the distance to the foci (c) are whole numbers, allowing players to compute the missing conjugate semi-axis scalar (b^2) cleanly without dealing with radicals:

\(c^2 = a^2 + b^2 \quad \implies \quad b^2 = c^2 - a^2\)

Structural Template Options
Horizontal Alignment Matrix
When the transverse axis is horizontal, the hyperbola opens left and right along the x-axis line. The positive x term leads the expression:

\(\frac{(x - h)^2}{a^2} - \frac{(y - k)^2}{b^2} = 1\)

Vertical Alignment Matrix
When the transverse axis is vertical, the hyperbola opens upward and downward along the y-axis line. The positions of the fractions reverse so the positive y term leads:

\(\frac{(y - k)^2}{a^2} - \frac{(x - h)^2}{b^2} = 1\)

Alert:
Pay close attention to variable associations during vertical setups. The game’s dropdown selectors must be swapped so that y aligns over a2 while k stays paired inside the y grouping, and x aligns over b2 while h stays paired inside the x grouping.
