Halves & Quarters Worksheet/Game
Welcome to the Halves & Quarters Challenge! This game is designed to sharpen your eye for symmetry and proportions. In this game, you’ll explore how common shapes like circles and squares can be split into different groups. Understanding the difference between halves and quarters is a vital building block for math, helping you visualize how whole objects are made up of smaller, equal pieces. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.

How to Play

  1. Analyze the Shape: A new shape will appear in the center of the screen every round. Look closely at the lines dividing it.

  2. Identify the Fraction: Your goal is to determine how the shape has been divided.
Halves: Select this if the shape is cut into 2 equal parts.
Quarters: Select this if the shape is cut into 4 equal parts.
Neither: Select this if the parts are unequal or lopsided.

  3. Get Feedback:
If you are correct, you’ll hear a high-pitched “ding” and see a gold star.
If you miss, the screen will shake—take another look and try again.

  4. Keep Going: The game generates a new random shape every time you get an answer right. See how many you can get in a row.
