Equal Groups Quiz/Game
In this game you are training your brain to see multiplication as a collection of identical groups. Instead of counting every single item one by one, you’ll learn to identify the “groups” and the “items per group.” Your goal is to match the visual representation to the correct multiplication sentence: Number of Buckets × Items per Bucket. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.

How to play the Equal Groups Game

  1. The Visual Goal
When you start, you will see several pink buckets on the screen. Inside each bucket is a specific number of items (dots).
The key rule for “Equal Groups” is that every bucket contains the exact same amount.

  2. How to Read the Code
To win, you must pick the multiplication sentence that correctly describes what you see. The order of the numbers is very important here:
The 1st Number: Count how many buckets there are in total.
The 2nd Number: Count how many items are inside just one of those buckets.
Example: If you see 4 buckets and each one has 3 dots, the correct answer is 4 × 3.

  3. Watch Out for the “Flip”
Because of the Commutative Property, 4 × 3 and 3 × 4 both equal 12. However, in this game, we want you to describe the picture accurately.
    4 × 3 = 4 groups of 3.
    3 × 4 = 3 groups of 4.
If the picture shows 4 buckets, make sure the number 4 comes first.

This video gives a clear, step-by-step approach to explain multiplication using equal groups.
