Welcome to Discount Worksheet/Game. This game is a simulation designed to help you master mental math for everyday transactions. In this game, your job is to adjust item prices based on retail trends. This will be the new selling price. You’ll either be marking items down for a Sale or marking them up for Profit. How to play the Discount Worksheet/Game

1. The Core Logic
   The game uses two different math paths depending on the “Tag Type” shown in the top right corner of the price card.
   SALE (Discount): You are lowering the price. Subtract the percentage from the original.
   P - (P × %) = New Price
   MARKUP: You are increasing the price (usually to cover costs or inflation). Add the percentage to the original.
   P + (P × %) = New Price
   

2. How to Play
   Identify the Action: Look at the color and text of the tag.
   Red Tag (“SALE”): Subtract.
   Yellow Tag (“MARKUP”): Add.
   Calculate the “Adjustment”: Find the dollar amount of the percentage.
   Example: Original is 80 and the adjustment is 25%.80 × 0.25 = 20.
   Apply to the Original:
   If it’s a Sale: 80 - 20 = 60.
   If it’s a Markup: 80 + 20 = 100.
   Submit: Type your final price and hit “Update Price Tag” (or press Enter).
   

3. Mental Shortcuts
   You can use these mental math tricks instead of long multiplication:
   

   Adjustment	Mental Shortcut
   50%	Cut the price in half.
   25%	Divide by 4 (half of a half).
   10%	Move the decimal point one spot to the left.
   20%	Find 10% and double it.
   75%	Find 25% and multiply by 3.

Complement Method
The formula is
Sale Price = Original Price × Complement Percentage

Discount Rate	The Complement (What you pay)	Mental Fraction
10% OFF	90%	9/10
20% OFF	80%	4/5
25% OFF	75%	3/4
50% OFF	50%	1/2
75% OFF	25%	1/4

4. Reading the Feedback
   Precise Calculation: A correct answer builds your 📦 Streak, making the box icon grow larger.
   Pricing Error: If you’re wrong, the screen shakes. The feedback area will tell you whether you should have added or subtracted to help you correct your logic for the next item.
