How to Play the Game
Objective: Solve place value cases by identifying digits, place values, and total values in decimal numbers.

1. Choose Your Detective Mode:
   Easy Mode: Displays a color-coded place value chart (Tens, Ones, Tenths, Hundredths) above each question for step-by-step visual support.
   Hard Mode: Hides the chart, challenging players to identify place values purely from memory.
   

2. Read the Case Prompt: Questions fall into three mystery types:
   Tap the Digit: Select the exact digit in the requested place value (e.g., “Tap the digit in the TENTHS place”).
   Identify Place: Choose the correct place value label for a specific highlighted digit.
   Determine Digit Value: Choose the expanded value representation (e.g., “3 tenths (0.3)”).
   

3. Submit Your Answer:
   Tap digits directly on screen or select a multiple-choice answer card.
   Correct answers highlight green, trigger audio feedback, increment your total score, and build your Streak Counter.
   Incorrect choices highlight red and display an explanatory rationale in the feedback card.
   

4. Advance Case: Click Next Case ➔ to generate a new number challenge.

   Remediation: Focus on the “Digit Value” prompt type in the game. Have students state the number out loud (e.g., “four hundredths”) before matching it to its fractional decimal notation (0.04).
   Extension & Scaffolding Options
   Scaffolding (Tier 2/3): Keep audio turned ON. Have students trace the place value columns on screen with their fingers before clicking an answer.
   Extension (Tier 1): After a student answers a question correctly, ask them to write the full number in Expanded Form on scratch paper (e.g., for 27.49, write (2 × 10) + (7 × 1) + (4 × 0.1) + (9 × 0.01)).
