How to Play the Commonly Confused Words Game?

1. Listen to the Word:
   As soon as a new question loads, the game will automatically say a word out loud. If you missed it or want to hear it again, just click the big blue speaker button (🔊).
   

2. Read the Context Clue:
   Right below the speaker button, a sentence will appear with a blank space (like _____). Listen to how the word is used in the sentence to figure out its actual meaning.
   

3. Pick the Correct Match:
   Look at the word options at the bottom. Click on the button with the correct spelling that fits the sentence.
   

4. See Your Score:
   If you choose correctly, the button turns green and you get a point.
   If you pick the wrong one, the button turns red, and the game will highlight the right answer in green so you can learn it for next time.
   

5. Move to the Next Word:
   Click the Next Word ➔ button to move to the next challenge. Try to get a perfect score of 20 out of 20!
   

Commonly Confused Words
Here is a look at how the game tests players using examples from the vocabulary list. The game specifically targets homophones (words that sound exactly the same but are spelled differently and have different meanings) and commonly confused vowels.

Because the words sound identical when spoken by the audio player, kids must rely on the context clue to choose the right match.

Why this helps:
By hearing the sentence first and looking at the options, kids learn to map the meaning of the sentence to the correct visual spelling, breaking the habit of guessing randomly on words that sound exactly the same.
