This Coin Value Worksheet/Game is a great way to put your skills to the test in a fun environment. By practicing, you’ll start to work out the answers efficiently.
Coin Value Worksheet/Game
Welcome to Coin Value Worksheet/Game. This game is a recognition game designed to help students bridge the gap between abstract numerical values (like 10¢) and physical currency. By randomizing the sides of the coins, it challenges students to identify money by more than just a single face. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.
How to play the Coin Value Worksheet/Game
Enter the Vault: Click “Open the Vault” to clear the menu and start the first round.
Identify the Target: A large orange bubble at the top displays a specific value (e.g., 25¢). The game will also use voice synthesis to announce: “Find the coin worth 25 cents."
Analyze the Grid: Four coins are presented below.
Randomization: For every round, the game flip-flops each coin between its Heads and Tails side.
The Labels: Below each image is a small tag identifying the name of the coin (e.g., QUARTER) to assist with vocabulary building.
Make a Selection:
Correct Choice: The coin button highlights in green and grows slightly. The game confirms the success with audio: “Correct! A Quarter is worth 25¢.” After a 4-second pause, a new value is generated.
Incorrect Choice: The button fades and becomes unclickable, while the voice feedback identifies what the student actually clicked: “Not quite. That is a Nickel.” This allows the student to try again with the remaining options.
Key Educational Features
Static UI: To maintain focus and reduce visual distractions, the target value remains stationary in the center of the screen, providing a stable reference point for the student.
Multi-Sensory Feedback: By combining high-contrast visuals, text labels, and clear audio cues, the game supports diverse learning styles and helps students who may still be developing their reading skills.
Visual Discrimination: Since a student might see the “Tails” side of a Penny and the “Heads” side of a Dime simultaneously, they are forced to look at the color, size, and markings rather than just memorizing one specific image.
Student Controls
Menu/Reset: At any time, the student can click the small “Menu” button at the top to reload the application and return to the start screen.
Wait Time: The 4-second delay after a correct answer is intentionally designed to give the student time to process the voice feedback and visual confirmation before the next challenge appears.
