Area of Right Triangle Game
Area is a measure of the space an object takes up. A triangle’s area can be obtained by using the equation \( A = \frac{1}{2} \times \text{base} \times \text{height} \). The key to finding the area of a right triangle is recognizing that its two legs already serve as the base and the height. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.

In this game, you may select “Find Area of Triangle” or “Find Perimeter of Triangle” or “Mixed Questions”. If you give a wrong answer, the game will provide the correct answer.

Area & Sides of Rectangle
Area & Perimeter of Parallelogram
Area & Perimeter of Right Triangle
Area & Sides of Triangle
Area & Perimeter of Trapezoid

    Score: 0 / 0

Round your answer to 2 decimal places if necessary.

How to Find the Perimeter of Right Triangle
Finding the perimeter of any shape just means finding the distance around its boundary.
For a triangle, that’s the sum of the lengths of all three sides.
Perimeter (P) = Side 1 + Side 2 + Side 3

How to Find the Area of Right Triangle
The area of a triangle is the measure of the two-dimensional space it covers. It is measured in square units (e.g., m2, cm2).

Area Formula
The general area formula for any triangle is:
\( A = \frac{1}{2} \times \text{base} \times \text{height} \)
In a right triangle, its two legs serve as the base and the height.

For a right triangle, if \(a\) and \(b\) are the lengths of the legs:
\( A = \frac{1}{2} \times a \times b\)

Steps to Calculate the Area

  1. Identify the Legs: Find the two sides of the triangle that meet at the 90° angle. These are your base \(a\) and height \(b\).
  2. Ignore the Hypotenuse: The longest side, opposite the right angle, is the hypotenuse and is not needed for the area calculation.
  3. Multiply the Legs: Calculate the product of the two leg lengths \(a \times b\).
  4. Divide by Two: Take the product and divide it by 2 to get the final area.

Key Terminology Legs (\(a\) and \(b\)): The sides adjacent to the right angle. Hypotenuse \(c\): The side opposite the right angle (the longest side).

The video gives a clear, step-by-step approach to calculate the area and perimeter of a right triangle.
