Add Money Game
In this Add Money Game, you take on the role of a restaurant cashier. Your goal is to accurately calculate the total bill for a customer’s order. Scroll down for a detailed explanation.
How to Play the Add Money Game
The Menu Selection
When you first open the game, you’ll see the “Restaurant Open” screen.
The Items: The kitchen has a set list of items like Burgers ($5.50), Fries ($2.75), and Sodas ($1.50).
The Challenge: Every time you click “Next Customer,” the game will randomly pick 2 to 4 items for you to add together.
The Customer Receipt
Once the game starts, look at the Customer Order box. It lists each item and its specific price.
Read carefully: Some items might have cents that don’t end in “0,” like a Taco ($2.25).
The “Total Due”: This will show a question mark. This is where your math skills come in.
How to Do the Math
The easiest way to solve these is to use Decimal Addition.
Add the Cents First: Add all the numbers to the right of the dot.
If you have $.50 and $.75, that makes $1.25.
Keep the $.25 for the cents box and “carry over” the $1 to the dollars.
Add the Dollars: Add the main dollar amounts plus any “carry over” from your cents.
Entering Your Answer
You will see a special input area with a $ sign and a . (dot).
Left Box: Type the total Dollars.
Right Box: Type the total Cents.
The Two-Digit Rule: The cents box always needs two digits. If the change is 5 cents, type 05. If there is no change, type 00.
Check Your Score
The top right corner tracks your Billings (Score):
Correct: How many bills you calculated perfectly on the first try.
Attempted: How many times you clicked “Calculate Total."
