Add 1 Worksheet/Game
Welcome to Add 1 game. This game is a fast-paced way to master one of the most important building blocks of math: the “Plus One” strategy. By learning that adding one is simply jumping to the very next number, you’ll be able to solve larger math problems much faster. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.

How to Play

  1. Look at the Number
In the center of the screen, you will see a number followed by “+ 1”. Sometimes it will look like 14 + 1, and other times it might show the 1 first, like 1 + 9.

  2. Think: “What comes next?”
Adding 1 is just like counting. If you are at 14, the next number you say when counting is 15.
The Goal: Try to identify the next number as quickly as possible without counting up from zero!

  3. Choose Your Answer
There are four buttons at the bottom. Tap the one that you think is the correct total.
Success: You’ll hear a happy “ping” sound, and the button will turn green
Try Again: If you miss, you’ll hear a low “bonk” sound, and the game will show you the right answer so you can remember it for next time.

  4. Check Your Accuracy
In the top right corner, your Accuracy tracker shows your progress:
Left Number: How many you got right.
Right Number: How many you have tried in total.

  5. Keep Moving
Once you answer, click the NEXT CHALLENGE ➔ button to get a new number. See if you can get 10 correct answers in a row!

Why “Add 1” Matters
Mastering “+1” helps you visualize a number line in your head. When you know that 14 + 1 = 15 instantly, you are training your brain to understand the order and relationship between all numbers.
