3D Shapes Worksheet/Game
Welcome to the 3D Shapes Challenge! This game is designed to help you master the properties of three-dimensional solids: cube, rectangular prism, pyramid, cylinder, cone, sphere. Unlike flat drawings on a page, these shapes rotate in real-time, allowing you to examine their faces, edges, and vertices from every angle. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.

 

 

How to Play

1. Initiate the Mission
   When the page loads, you’ll see a dark space with a prompt. Click anywhere on the screen to start the game.
   

2. Observe the Solid
   A glowing 3D shape will appear and spin in the center of your screen. Take a moment to look at its features:
   The Faces: Are they flat squares, rectangles, or triangles? Or is the surface curved?
   The Vertices: Does the shape come to a single sharp point at the top, or does it have many corners?
   

3. Make Your Identification
   Below the shape, you will see a grid of buttons. Click the name that matches the shape you see. The shape list includes:
   Cube: 6 identical square faces.
   Sphere: A perfectly round surface with no corners.
   Cone: A circular base tapering to a single point.
   Cylinder: A circular top and bottom with a curved “body."
   Pyramid: A flat base with triangular sides meeting at a point.
   Rectangular Prism: A long box made of rectangular faces.
   

4. Listen and Learn
   The game will speak to you.
   If you are correct: The system will confirm the shape’s name, and the solid will grow larger in celebration. Click NEXT SHAPE to move to the next item in the queue.
   If you are incorrect: The system will encourage you to try again. The button you clicked will highlight in red to help you narrow down the choices.
   

5. Master the Full Set
   The game uses a “Shuffle Queue” logic. This means you will be tested on every single shape once before any shape repeats. Complete a full cycle to prove you are a 3D Geometry Master.
