Steps to divide a mixed number by a mixed number:
Example: Divide 2 3/4 by 1 1/2
Step 1:
Convert 2 3/4 to an improper fraction: 11/4
Convert 1 1/2 to an improper fraction: 3/2
Step 2:
Invert the divisor: 3/2 becomes 2/3
Step 3:
Cancel & multiply the fractions:
(11/4) × (2/3) = 22/12
Step 4:
Simplify and convert the fraction:
22/12 = 11/6
Step 5:
Convert the resulting fraction back to a mixed number:
11/6 = 1 5/6
Therefore, 2 3/4 divided by 1 1/2 is equal to 1 5/6.
