### Round to the nearest hundred Worksheets

In these Third Grade math worksheets, students practice how to round 3 and 4-digit numbers to the nearest 100.

Rounding to the nearest hundred is an important skill in math.

1. Look at the tens digit:
This is the digit in the ten’s place (second digit from the right).
2. If the tens digit is less than 5:
Round down to the nearest hundred. For example, 243 rounded to the nearest hundred is 240.
3. If the ones digit is 5 or more:
Round up to the next hundred. For example, 457 rounded to the nearest hundred is 460.

You can also use a number line to help with the rounding.

1. Draw or imagine a number line with multiples of hundred marked on it.
2. If the number you’re rounding is closer to a hundred on the left, round down. If it’s closer to a hundred on the right, round up. If the ones digit is exactly 5, round up.

Rounding to the nearest hundred is a skill that helps simplify numbers for estimation or quick assessment. It’s commonly used in everyday situations, especially when dealing with quantities that are easier to work with in multiples of hundred.
