Strategies to find missing factors

  1. Use the memorized multiplication times tables:
Think “What multiplied by the given number gives the product?"
    For example: 4 × ___ = 24.
Think of the 4 Times Table and find the number that multiples by 4 gets 24.
If you have memorized the 4 Times Table, you should be able to know that the missing number is 6.
Play the Multiplication Tables Game if you need to revise and memorize the Multiplication Times Table.
This is the most efficient method and would also be helpful when you need to division.

  2. Skip Count
If you cannot remember the multiplication fact then you can skip count.
    For example: 4 × ___ = 24.
    4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24
The missing number is 6 because you need to skip count 6 times to get to 24.

  3. Use the Multiplication Chart
If you can’t remember the multiplication fact and you have a multiplication chart then you can refer to the chart.

The video gives a clear, step-by-step approach to walk through the process of finding missing factors in a multiplication problem.
