There are five sets of statistics worksheets:

Examples, solutions, videos, and worksheets to help Grade 5 students learn how to find the mean from a dataset.

How to find the Mean?

There are two sets of mean worksheets.

  • Mean Worksheet (Positive Numbers).
  • Mean Worksheet (Include Negative Numbers).

To find the mean (average) of a dataset, follow these steps:

  1. Add Up the Values
Start by adding up all the values in the dataset. This sum will be the numerator of the mean formula.
  2. Count the Number of Values
Count how many values there are in the dataset. This count will be the denominator of the mean formula.
  3. Calculate the Mean
Use the formula for the mean (average):
Mean = Sum of Values/Number of Values
The result of this calculation is the mean (average) of the dataset.

For example, let’s find the mean of the following dataset: 10,15,20,25,30

  1. Add Up the Values
    10+15+20+25+30=100
  2. Count the Number of Values
There are 5 values in the dataset.
  3. Calculate the Mean
    Mean = 100/5 = 20
