There are six sets of circle worksheets:

Examples, solutions, videos, and worksheets to help grade 7 and grade 8 students learn how to find the circumference of a circle given its radius or diameter.

How to find the circumference of a circle?

There are two sets of circumference of circle worksheets

  • Circumferences (inches, ft, yard)
  • Circumferences (mm, cm)

Given the radius
If you are given the radius of a circle, you can use the following formula to find the circumference of a circle:

C = 2πr

Where:

  • C is the circumference of the circle.
  • π (pi) is a mathematical constant approximately equal to 3.14159…
  • r is the radius of the circle.

Example:
Find the circumference of a circle with a radius of 6 units. Use 3.14 for π.
C = 2πr = 2(3.14)(6) = 37.68 units

Given the diameter
If you know the diameter (which is twice the radius), you can also use the formula:

C = πd

Where:

  • C is the circumference of the circle.
  • π (pi) is the mathematical constant approximately equal to 3.14159…
  • d is the diameter of the circle.

Example:
Find the circumference of a circle with a diameter of 8 units. Use 3.14 for π.
C = πd = (3.14)(8) = 37.68 = 25.12 units.
