TENS PLACE
ONES PLACE

Make Your Selection

The Ones Place: This is always the digit on the right. It tells you how many single “leftover” units are in the number.
Check Your Score
Correct: The digit will glow green, you’ll hear a happy chime, and your score will go up.
Try Again: The whole card will shake and play a “donk” sound. Don’t worry—just try the other digit.
Teacher Tips for Digit Identification
The “Left-to-Right” Rule
Students often confuse “Tens” and “Ones” because we read numbers from left to right, but we often teach place value starting from the right.
Tip: Teach students that the Tens are the “Leaders” (they come first in 2-digit numbers) and the Ones are the “Followers."
T-Charts
When a student struggles with the game, have them draw a quick “T-Chart” on a whiteboard.
Draw a capital T over the left digit and an O over the right digit.
This visual “labeling” directly mirrors the game’s logic.
“Value” vs. “Digit”
A common point of confusion is the difference between the digit and its value.
The Question: “What digit is in the tens place?” (Answer: 4)
The Value: “What is the value of that digit?” (Answer: 40)
Strategy: Use the game above to master identification first, then move to a version where they have to type the value (e.g., 40 instead of 4).
