Metric Mass Worksheets

In these free math worksheets, students practice how to convert between the metric mass (kg and g).

How to convert between different metric mass?

1 kilogram (kg) = 1000 grams (g)

To convert from a larger unit to a smaller unit, we multiply.
For example, to convert 12 kilograms to grams, multiply by 1,000:
12 kilograms = 12 × 1,000 = 12,000 grams.

To convert from a smaller unit to a larger unit, we divide.
For example, to convert 17,000 grams to kilograms, divide by 1000:
17,000 grams = 17,000 ÷ 1,000 = 17 kilograms.
