Grade 7 Math Worksheets

There are four sets of evaluate algebraic expressions worksheets:

- Algebraic Expressions with 1 Variable (positive numbers)
- Algebraic Expressions with 1 Variable (integers)
- Algebraic Expressions with 2 Variables (positive numbers)
- Algebraic Expressions with 2 Variables (integers)

Examples, solutions, videos, and worksheets to help Grade 7 and Grade 8 students learn how to evaluate expressions with variables (substitute positives numbers).

There are two sets of Evaluating Expressions with Variables worksheets.

- Evaluate Expression with Variables (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
- Evaluate Expression with Variables (parenthesis, exponents).

These are the steps to evaluate expressions with variables:

- Substitute the variables with their provided values.
- Use the order of operations (PEMDAS/BODMAS) to carry out operations in the correct sequence.

- Parentheses: Evaluate expressions within parentheses first.
- Exponents: Compute any exponents or powers.
- Multiplication and Division: Perform these operations from left to right.
- Addition and Subtraction: Perform these operations from left to right.

Example:

Evaluate the expression 3(x + 1)^{2} + 5(y + 2) when x = 2 and y = 4.

Substitute x with 2 and y with 4: 3(2 + 1)^{2} + 5(4 + 2)

Evaluate expressions within parentheses: 3(3)^{2} + 5(6)

Compute the exponents: 3(9) + 5(6)

Multiply and Add: 27 + 30 = 57

Remember to follow the order of operations and simplify each step along the way to evaluate the algebraic expressions accurately.
