Method 1: Using the formula
In general, the formula for increasing a number by a percentage can be expressed as:
Increased Value = Original Number - (Original Number × Percentage Decimal)
Example: Decrease 80 by 25%.
Method 2: Using a Multiplier
The formula for increasing a number by a percentage using a multiplier can be expressed as:
Increased Value = Original Number × (1 - Percentage Decimal)
Example: Decrease 80 by 25%.
Using this multiplier approach can provide a quick and efficient way to calculate the decreased value of a number by a certain percentage. We can do step 2 in the head and use a calculator for step 3 if necessary.

Price increase = New price - Original price = $60 - $50 = $10 Percent increase = (Price increase / Original price) * 100 = ($10 / $50) * 100 = 20% Therefore, the stock price increased by 20%.
