In these free math worksheets, students practice how to convert between the customary units of time (days, hours, minutes, seconds).

How to convert between the different units of time?

Here are the conversion factors for days, hours, minutes, and seconds:
1 day = 24 hours
1 hour = 60 minutes
1 minute = 60 seconds

To convert from one unit to another, you can use these conversion factors to multiply or divide by the appropriate factor.
For example:
To convert days to hours, multiply the number of days by 24.
To convert hours to minutes, multiply the number of minutes by 60.
To convert minutes to seconds, multiply the number of minutes by 60.

Here are some example conversions:
2 days = 48 hours
3 hours = 180 minutes
2 minutes = 120 seconds

  8. Beth is allowed 2 hours of TV time each week. Her sister is allowed 2 times as much. How many minutes of TV can Beth’s sister watch?
  9. Sandy took the train to New York City. The trip took 3 hours. Jackie took the bus which took twice as long. How many minutes did Jackie’s trip take?
