Complementary & Supplementary Angles Game
Complementary angles are two angles whose measures add up to exactly 90 degrees (a right angle). Supplementary angles are two angles whose measures add up to exactly 180 degrees (a straight angle or a straight line). When two lines cross, they create four angles. The angles that are directly across from each other are the vertical angles. Vertical angles are equal. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.

In this game, you first select the challenge “Complementary”, “Supplementary”, “Vertical” or “Mixed Challenge”. Then calculate the required angle. If you give a wrong answer, the game will provide the correct answer.

How to Calculate the Angles
Check out this lesson on the Complementary & Supplementary Angles

  1. Complementary Angles
Complementary angles are two angles whose measures add up to exactly 90 degrees (a right angle).
Key Idea: Think of the letter ‘C’ in “Complementary” standing for “Corner,” which reminds you of the square corner of a right angle (90°).
Example: If you have an angle that measures 30°, its complementary angle is 60°, because 30° + 60° = 90°.
Finding the Complement: To find the complement of any angle x, you just calculate 60° - x.

  2. Supplementary Angles
Supplementary angles are two angles whose measures add up to exactly 180 degrees (a straight angle or a straight line).
Key Idea: Think of the letter ‘S’ in “Supplementary” standing for “Straight,” which reminds you of a straight line (180°).
Example: If you have an angle that measures 110°, its supplementary angle is 70°, because 110° + 70° = 180°.
Finding the Supplement: To find the supplement of any angle x, you calculate 180° - x.

  3. Vertical Angles
When two lines cross, they create four angles. The angles that are directly across from each other are the vertical angles. Vertical angles are always equal.

The video gives a clear, step-by-step approach to learn the types of angles.
