How to find the area of a parallelogram?

To find the area of a parallelogram, you can use the formula:

A = bh

Where:

  • A is the area of the parallelogram.
  • b, the base is the length of one of the parallel sides of the parallelogram.
  • h, the height is the perpendicular distance between the base and its opposite side.

Here are the steps to calculate the area of a parallelogram:

  1. Measure the length of one of the parallel sides; this will be the base.
  2. Measure the height, which is the perpendicular distance between the base and its opposite side. Ensure that this measurement is taken from the base to the opposite side, forming a 90-degree angle.
  3. Use the formula A = bh.
    Multiply the length of the base by the height to calculate the area.

Example:
Find the area a parallelogram with a base of 6 units and a height of 4 units.
A = bh
A = 6 units × 4 units
A = 24 square units

So, the area of the parallelogram is 24 square units.
