Triangle Correspondence Worksheets

Examples, solutions, videos, and worksheets to help grade 7 students learn about triangle correspondence and triangle congruence.

• Two triangles and their respective parts can be compared once a correspondence has been assigned to the two triangles. Once a correspondence is selected, corresponding sides and corresponding angles can also be determined.
• Double arrows notate corresponding vertices. Triangle correspondences can also be notated with double arrows.
• Triangles are congruent or identical if there is a correspondence so that corresponding sides and angles are equal.
• An equal number of tick marks on two different sides indicates the sides are equal in measurement.
• An equal number of arcs on two different angles indicates the angles are equal in measurement.

Triangle Correspondence & Triangle Congruence

Triangle correspondence refers to the matching of vertices, sides, and angles between two triangles. It’s essential for understanding congruent triangles.

Congruent triangles have the same shape and size.
All corresponding parts (vertices, sides, and angles) of congruent triangles are equal.

Example:
If triangle ABC is congruent to triangle DEF, it means:
Vertex A corresponds to vertex D.
Vertex B corresponds to vertex E.
Vertex C corresponds to vertex F.
Side AB corresponds to side DE.
Side BC corresponds to side EF.
Side AC corresponds to side DF.
Angle A corresponds to angle D.
Angle B corresponds to angle E.
Angle C corresponds to angle F.
