Repeated Addition for Equal Groups Worksheet/Game
Welcome to Repeated Addition Quest Worksheet/Game. This game is designed to help you understand how multiplication begins by looking at “equal groups.” Think of it as a puzzle where you match a picture to a math sentence. Scroll down the page for a more detailed explanation.

How to Play

  1. Look at the Groups
In the center of the screen, you will see several dashed boxes. Each box contains the same number of items (like 🍎 apples or ⭐ stars).
Count the boxes: This tells you how many “groups” you have.
Count the items inside ONE box: This tells you the “number” you are adding.

  2. Listen to the Challenge
The game will automatically speak to you, or you can just read the screen. It will tell you exactly how many groups and items there are to help you get started.

  3. Find the Matching Sentence
Look at the four buttons at the bottom. You need to find the one that matches your picture.
The Rule: If you see 3 groups with 2 stars each, you are looking for the button that says 2 + 2 + 2.
Don’t get tricked! A button might say 3 + 3. Even though that also equals 6, it doesn’t match the picture (that would be 2 groups of 3).

  4. Check Your Score
Correct: The feedback box turns green, and you get a gold star.
Incorrect: The box turns red. The game will explain that because you have X groups, you need to see the number added X times.

  5. Move to the Next Round
Click NEXT CHALLENGE ➔ to get a brand-new set of items and groups.

Tip
If there are 4 boxes on the screen, your answer must have 4 numbers in the addition sentence.

Why this works
This game specifically targets the common confusion between the number of groups and the number in each group. By visually separating the items into dashed boxes, the player can clearly count that if there are 4 boxes, there must be 4 numbers being added together.
